Tom is the founder of Hileman and Associates, P.C., a certified public accounting firm located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. The accounting firm serves primarily small to medium sized closely held businesses and not-for-profit organizations. These clients are located in not only the tri-state area, but range geographically.  Tom has almost 50 years of accounting experience, beginning primarily with Alpern Rosenthal and three other firms where he was a partner before founding his own firm in 1983. Over the years, in addition to servicing a steadily growing client base, he has had numerous opportunities to testify as an expert witness, including the Federal District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, US Bankruptcy Court, Common Pleas Court and Family Division. This testimony has ranged from accounting expertise, business valuation, lost profits and earnings as well as testimony on work product and other issues in various cases.

Tom graduated from Pennsylvania State University where he met his wife, Darlana. He grew up in Edgewood, but after being married for a few years, moved to Mt. Lebanon.  Tom and Darlana now live in Collier and have two grown children, Tr and Lexie, and three beautiful granddaughters.
 
Tom is a member of both the American and the Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He has been very active in the Pennsylvania Institute at both the state and Pittsburgh chapter levels. At the state level he has chaired the senior-most committee of the Foundation for Education and Research, the Education Committee. It was responsible for promulgating education policy for over 16,000 members of the PICPA. Chairing the committee also provided a seat on the Board of the Foundation. He has also contributed articles to the PICPA' s magazine, the CPA Journal. Tom served as president of the Pittsburgh chapter of the PICPA for the 1992-1993 fiscal year. The Pittsburgh chapter had over 3,700 members, making it the second largest chapter in the sixth largest state. Chapter membership was larger than eleven state accounting organizations. He served on the chapter's Executive Committee for 10 years. He received the 1995-1996 and 1998-1999 Distinguished Service awards from the Pittsburgh chapter. Through his involvement with the Pittsburgh chapter he has been active on many local committees, usually two or three a year, and has served as chairman of several committees.

Tom is also a past president of the Allegheny Tax Society, an organization of attorneys and CPAs with a special interest in the tax aspect of their practices. This organization is limited to 100 members from the Allegheny County area. He is currently President-Elect of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh. While golf is a passion, it is not an ability of Tom’s.

Tr has worked for Hileman and Associates, P.C. in different capacities since 1996. After graduating from Westminster College, he came on full time in 2001.

Tr works with all aspects of the firm, but brings special knowlege of software, systems and bookkeeping. Tr is a member of both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the National Society of Accountants.
 
Tr resides in the South Hills with his wife Jennifer and daughters Jocelynn and Charlotte.
